types of marketingThere’s no shortage when it comes to the types of marketing that is available to grow your business these days.

You can pretty much pick and choose what marketing strategy will work best for your individual type of business needs and start marketing immediately.

But choose wisely or you may find yourself spending a lot of time and money focusing on an area that has no real significant impact on growing your business.

Let’s have a look at some types of marketing online that people are choosing to use today.

As I have said before the most important form of marketing whether it be online or offline is Content Marketing.

Why? Because there is no quicker way to get new customers and return customers than to provide them with quality, useful content that helps them to see your products and/or services as an option for them to purchase.

Content that is presented in a way that benefits the end user builds trust and loyalty, as well it provides a safe place for your customers to come back to when they are looking for whatever you have to offer.

Do not overlook this because marketing strategy for if the content you are putting out there online to promote your products and services quite frankly “sucks” your customer base audience will know it and your “reputation management” efforts, which we will discuss later, will suffer greatly.

Here’s a brief explanation for each of the different types of marketing:

Internet Marketing is just the term used to denote a marketing style that reflects anything in regards to marketing that you do on the internet. It has nothing to do with offline marketing per say, however, it can cross over in ways such as when you write a book to promote your business that is available online as a digital eBook or offline as a hard copy.

Affiliate Marketing is the term used when someone is promoting affiliate programs that generally belong to other people whereby they get a commission for any sales. It can also refer to you having your own affiliate program where other people promote your products and services and you pay them a commission. Social Media Marketing is the term that is used when people use places such as FaceBook, Twitter, Google Plus, Pinterest, Linkedin, and numerous other social sharing sites to promote their businesses.

Content Marketing is a term used by people when they are talking about placing articles on their websites, guest posting, making a video, hosting a webinar, sharing slides, writing a book and the list goes on and on. Any content you produce online will reflect on and be part of your overall business reputation because it points back to your business website.

Video Marketing is just as it sounds, you are marketing your website through a series of videos that you produce to entice people to visit your website. If you have numerous products and services you can make a short one minute video for each product or service that you have and multiply your chances of getting website traffic.

Email Marketing is the process of sending a series of emails to your cliens or customers that are both helpful and promotional. Generally you will send some emails that have helpful useful information in them with no promotional calls to action, and then in between the series of emails you will send one that is promoting your products or services. People need to sign up to your mailing list in order for you to promote to them and this is generally accomplished by yu offering something for free initially like a “How To” report.

Website/Blog Marketing is as I see it the hub of your business. It is a great tool that should be used to promote your business online. If you are not promoting your website to it’s fullest potential and/or not at all, then your website becomes nothing more than a virtual online business card that gets no exposure other than when you hand someone your business card that has your website address on it.

Relationship Marketing is the term used to signify the importance of developing a positive relationship with your existing customers and potential customers. It is also significant to developing a positive relationship with other online businesses that are related to your business which is called Business to Business or B to B Marketing. As well as I see it there is a real benefit to developing a positive marketing relationship with your competition.

Have you decided which of these types of marketing models best suit your business plan?

So there you have it…this list is by no means exhaustive as there are so many other key online marketing terms that describe the different types of marketing for both online and offline initiatives.
